Sunrise Soya Tofu Burgers

This is from the brand of tofu sold in our local super market so it was an easy choice with some modifications.

Ingredients

  • 1 Package Sunrise Extra Firm Tofu, crumbled.
  • 1 Large onion, diced
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and grated
  • 1 large bell pepper, finely diced or 1 block frozen spinach (300 grams ), drained.
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried dill or thyme
  • 2/3 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 Tbsp tahini
  • 2 Tbsp light miso
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 Tbsp smoke paprika

Directions

  1. Heat 1/4 Cup water or broth Large Sautee pan:
    • Start by heating water or broth in spacious sauté pan.
    • Sauté a flavorful mix of onions, carrots, peppers, along with oregano, basil, and dill for 5-7 minutes until the veggies reach a tender consistency.
  2. Prepare Tofu and Nut Mixture
    • Crumble drained tofu into a sizeable mixing bowl.
    • Incorporate chopped walnuts, bread crumbs, tahini, miso, soy sauce, and mustard into the bowl.
    • Add previously cooked vegetables to the mixture and thoroughly combine all ingredients.
  3. Preheat oven to 200ºC (400ºF). Use non-stick silicon baking sheets.
    • Preheat your oven to 200ºC (400ºF) for optimal baking conditions.
    • Line a baking sheet with non-stick silicon baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  4. Form patties:
    • Using your hands, shape the mixture into palm-sized patties.
    • Make approximately 8 patties and place them on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced about 2 inches apart.
  5. Another method is to use the Silpat Silicone Baking Mats from Amazon to shape and freeze the patties so that they keep their shape and then cook them on a non-stick frying pan or air fry them when wanting to eat.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake the patties in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they achieve a firm texture and golden brown appearance.
  7. Serve:
    • Enjoy your homemade tofu walnut veggie burgers served on hamburger buns.
    • Add your preferred condiments to personalize your burger experience.
