Wealthsimple seems to have a round of promotions going on right now. The latest that caught my attention is to deposit or transfer $25,000 between May 16th and July 2nd to get a free pair of Airpod 4s. One thing that I’ve noticed is that in general Wealthsimple promotions are available to new and existing clients. Ofcourse it may be easier for newer clients to qualify such as depositing or transferring $25,000 into Wealthsimple compared to a client who already holds a lot of their funds with them. Nonetheless, in contrast to many “New” clients only bonuses such as opening new accounts, this is very welcome since there have been numerous ongoing promotions.
For example, in the winter/spring there was a 2% promotion for transferring assets into Wealthsimple over $15,000 that would receive a 2% match spread out over 24 months. They were also giving away one free lift tickets for
- a transfer of $15,000 or more in RRSP or LIRA,
- direct deposit setup for $2000 minimum into their chequeing account for 6 months
- for referring a friend who joins Wealthsimple
So a total of 3 lift tickets could have been rewarded if you completed all three tasks. The lift tickets were provided through the Canadian Lift Pass and werePlatinum level. Lift Tickets were redeemable during the 2024/2025 season at 50+ ski areas across Canada. For me, it was a bit late as I found out about it more towards the spring.
One thing to keep in mind, for new clients as well is the importance of registering for these promotions. It does not appear to be automatically applied, instead you register for the promotion and can track your progress in completing the each task. It’s great to have these rewards for new and current clients a like and hopefully to continue. It has added some motivation to checking in with Wealthsimple regularly and keeping a check on reaching my financial goals.
If you are not ready now, there have been and will be more rewards hopefully. There were several in 2024 that included a Macbook or an iPhone, but had higher requirements. When I was ready to make some transfers from another brokerage, they had the 2% winter bundle match and the lift tickets promotion. Right now it’s the Airpods.
